New York is the 15th state to legalize adult-use recreational cannabis and is expected to become one of the largest markets for legal cannabis in the country.  New York's legislation, titled the New York State Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act, will create a new industry in New York that is estimated to bring in over $350 million a year in tax revenue and provide 30,000 to 60,000 new jobs across the state. This course is most beneficial to professionals who intend to work in the cannabis industry; it is essential for CPAs and tax and business advisors to have a basic understanding of how it operates and the challenges it presents.
